<p>Yes, I&#8217;m still here!  Can hardly believe it&#8217;s been over two weeks since I last posted!  So unlike me!  Tells you just how busy things have been!</p>
<p>So, thought I&#8217;d drop in for a quick update!</p>
<p>As my regular readers know, I&#8217;ve been doing some serious experimenting over the past few weeks in addition to having <a href="http://hotspotpromotion.com/"><strong>my business</strong></a> take off, and keeping up with homeschool and teaching at <a href="http://www.gymboreeclasses.com/b2c/customer/detailProgram.jsp?progType=P"><strong>Gymboree</strong></a>.  With all that together, I&#8217;ve been busier than a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs!  But I feel like I&#8217;ve finally come up for air, and so I thought I&#8217;d pop in a catch everyone up!</p>
<h3>Sleepless:</h3>
<p>As many of you know, for the <a href="http://praisewalker.com/2011/02/17/polyphasic-sleep-take-2/"><strong>past couple of months</strong></a> I&#8217;ve been following a program of <strong><a href="http://www.firesprings.com/miracles.htm">really intensive prayer</a></strong>.  It&#8217;s an interesting course about spiritual warfare, and battling those strongholds that keep us bound, often without our realization.  The goal of the course is to break free of everything from the past so you can walk free into the future.  It&#8217;s not for the faint of heart.  Since the 14th of January I&#8217;ve been getting up every night at 11:30 and praying through until 1:30-2:00 am.  I have to admit, there has been the odd night (perhaps around 5 in total) where I&#8217;ve just been unable to get up, or my alarm didn&#8217;t work, but otherwise, I&#8217;ve been pretty faithful to this regimen. As morning starts at 5:30, that makes for a very short night.  So, in and around the prayer times I&#8217;ve been experimenting &#8211; mostly unsuccessfully with <strong><a href="http://bagtheweb.com/b/aTUJJF">Polyphasic Sleep</a></strong>.  I tried to go &#8220;hard core&#8221; and jump in with both feet, but unless you have very supportive people around you who are willing to monitor you and drag you out of bed, it&#8217;s pretty hard to follow through on.  Currently I do a 1.5hr nap from about 10:00-11:30, followed by prayer, followed by a 4-hour &#8220;core sleep&#8221;.  Then, in the afternoon, I take a nap for 30-45 minutes.  So far, that&#8217;s working well.  Once I&#8217;m well into that rhythm, I&#8217;ll drop the 1.5 hour nap before prayer, and add another 30 minute nap during the day.  I would like to eventually work up to a 3 hour core sleep, and 3 short naps.  That would give me quite a bit of free time to work on things I can&#8217;t get around to now.  We&#8217;ll see how it goes, but I&#8217;m going to give myself several months to work into that schedule gradually.  I don&#8217;t do well with shock therapy!  <img src='http://praisewalker.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<h3>Starving</h3>
<p>In addition to letting go of the burden of sleep (ahem) the prayer course also allows me the privilege of giving up food.  It often calls for 3 days of dry fasting (an &#8220;<strong><a href="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Esther+4&#038;version=NIV">Esther Fast</a></strong>&#8221; where you avoid both food AND water.  I&#8217;m OK letting go of the food, but I&#8217;ve not yet managed a completely dry fast) followed by 1-3 weeks of partial fasting.  To make my life easier, I&#8217;ve simply adopted the &#8220;<strong><a href="http://fast-5.com/">Fast-5</a></strong>&#8221; lifestyle and add in the extra fast when called for.  I actually like this way of eating, and, in fact, am rarely, if ever, hungry.  Sure saves time!  Only one meal to prepare!</p>
<h3>Steps</h3>
<p>The other thing the prayer course is doing is encouraging my walking.  One is supposed to march as one prays, and because our house is so open plan, I need to walk someplace that&#8217;s a little soundproofed so as to allow the rest of the family the peace and quiet they need to sleep.  The only place that allows that is the basement, and the only place to walk in the basement is on the treadmill.  So, in addition to my training that I do in the mornings, I now walk 1.5 &#8211; 2 hours in the middle of the night, and, having realized the the treadmill allows me to spend day after day without ever getting outside, I now take an afternoon walk of about 3.5km outside.  The sidewalks are still a bit of a mess, but on this walk I&#8217;m not worried about training or speed or heart rate, so I don&#8217;t mind if I have to slow right down or take a detour or whatever.  The combination of all three is keeping me at my step goal of a minimum of 10,000 steps with very little conscious effort &#8211; Nice!</p>
<h3>Sabbathing</h3>
<p>The added stress of all the above has also encouraged me to get serious about sabbathing.  Now, at 6:00pm on a Saturday night, I shut off my computer, and don&#8217;t turn it on again until Sunday night around the same time.  I don&#8217;t check e-mail on my iPod, I don&#8217;t do business work, and I try and take time for family and reading.  I work my prayer time so I can now sleep through on Saturday-Sunday, and I also sleep in on Sunday mornings, don&#8217;t worry about fasting, and ignore my normal schedule.  This is HUGELY refreshing to my soul.  I highly recommend it.</p>
<p>Now our business is in a manageably &#8220;steady&#8221; place, I will soon be leaving Gymboree except to do the occasional subbing, and I&#8217;m in a good rhythm with food/sleep/prayer, so I&#8217;m feeling much more myself!  I hope you&#8217;ll be hearing lots more from me (and I hope you think that&#8217;s a GOOD thing, LOL!)</p>

<p>Well, the graph today is looking great!  Probably mostly due to water loss during my &#8220;Esther Fast&#8221; which ended at midnight.  Over the next 18 days I will continue to fast on an intermittent basis (fasting Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday) to complete the <a href="http://praisewalker.com/2011/01/17/getting-unstuck/"><strong>prayer challenge</strong></a>.  The polyphasic sleep pattern isn&#8217;t really working for me yet, but I&#8217;m still pushing through to get to a place of comfort.  I need to sit down today and work out the actual sleep rhythm for optimum rest.  Currently I&#8217;m in bed at 9:00, I sleep until 11:30 or so, get up for 2 hours of prayer, back to bed by 2:30, and up around 6:30-7:00.  Feel a little &#8220;thick headed&#8221; but I&#8217;m coping.  I think I need to re-adjust my times for optimal results. <p>Regarding the slow carb &#8211; the weight has come off more slowly than anticipated, but as I re-researched I realized that I&#8217;m not getting enough protein, early enough, in the morning.  I&#8217;m up early but don&#8217;t usually get to breakfast until about 7:30.  According to Tim Ferriss, I need to eat 25g of protein within the first 30 minutes of getting up, so today I started with a protein shake.  Once I&#8217;m finished posting this blog, I&#8217;ll have my usual breakfast. It will be interesting to see how this changes my results.</p>

<p>First of all, very exciting news! <p>As you know, I&#8217;ve been experimenting with my life in a fairly concentrated fashion lately.  The most extreme experiment being that of attempting <a href="http://praisewalker.com/2011/01/03/sleep-update/"><strong>polyphasic sleep</strong></a>.  </p>
<p>The main reason I&#8217;m pushing so hard in different areas of my life, is that there is this sense of being &#8220;stuck&#8221;.  It seems that many of my attempts to move forward don&#8217;t.  Even my &#8220;non-attempts&#8221; (because people keep telling me to relax and &#8220;let things happen&#8221;) fall flat.  No matter how hard I try &#8211; or don&#8217;t try &#8211; I struggle with losing weight, even though people who follow the advice I give based on considerable research, do.  Being successful in business is an incredibly slow and tedious process, even though I am able to help others grow their business quickly.  I can&#8217;t seem to master even small changes &#8211; and big changes, while they tend to be easier because they&#8217;re more &#8220;in your face&#8221; aren&#8217;t working either.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m not whining, and I&#8217;m not afraid of hard work and discipline.  I just feel&#8230;stuck.</p>
<p>One of the reasons I wanted to try polyphasic sleep was to gain more time for spiritual devotions and get my life with God in a place where it is a life of victory and impact.  I also wanted more time for fitness.  Currently I feel like a bit of a slug.  Trying to get up for devotions really early in the morning wasn&#8217;t working &#8211; my faith is so weak that strengthening it didn&#8217;t inspire me.  And I&#8217;ve let anything and everything get in the way of fitness, even though I actually really enjoy my workout.</p>
<p>However, I am relentless.  I believe there&#8217;s hope even for me!</p>
<p>These past two weeks of 2011 have been eye-opening mostly in the area of boundaries.  There are things that are important to me, but I constantly let the urgent get in the way, and I am just not willing to put in the effort in some areas, to make the necessary difference.  The boundary situation got so bad that I let everything of importance drop to tackle something that was urgent but had nothing to do with my life, my goals, or my convictions.  How dumb is that?  this is when I began to see that there is actually a problem bigger than what I recognized going on in my life.</p>
<p>I prayed about it, journaled, and I believe the key lies somewhere in my prayer life &#8211; which is about as effective as a wet sock.  As I searched for understanding in how to move with power in prayer, I &#8220;stumbled&#8221; across a site that talks about being more effective in prayer, and it gives exercises and advice that challenge what I believe about prayer, but make sense, as well.  As the prayer time needs to take place at midnight, according to this course, it&#8217;s also forcing me to create a polyphasic sleep pattern, which is interesting.  I haven&#8217;t added fitness in to it yet, because the prayertime itself is already about 2 hours.</p>
<p>So currently I&#8217;m on a 21 day fast &#8211; 3 days of an &#8220;<a href="http://www.crossroads.ca/response/fasting.htm"><strong>Esther Fast</strong></a>&#8221; (yes, I&#8217;m being very careful) and then 18 days of partial fasting, and I get up at midnight to pray according to a very specific schedule and pattern.  This is the opening exercise of a 90 day prayer program that I&#8217;m currently finding fascinating.  And, while it&#8217;s a struggle, I&#8217;m able to drag this sorry carcass out of bed at midnight every night, and battle in prayer for two hours before falling back asleep.</p>

<p>This week we also add spirituality.  We are going to apply the concept of &#8220;breath prayers&#8221; to our breathing exercises.  These prayers are simple, and yet they carry an amazing power behind them.  I challenge you to try them out and see what happens!  I explain my views on spirituality and how that applies to you (even if you differ from my way of living) in the lesson.  It&#8217;s important that  you read it before you get into the habits of this week.</p>
<p>We are also learning from Dee about eating more raw food (don&#8217;t worry, we won&#8217;t turn you into rabbits!) and give you ideas on how to manage that simply.</p>

<p>This is the last birthday before the &#8220;biggie&#8221;!  The good news is that while my Chronological age is 49, <a href="http://bit.ly/EZey">RealAge </a>puts me at 41.7 and I&#8217;m on a constant track to improve.  In reality, I&#8217;m getting younger every year!  LOL!</p>
<p>As many of you know, I&#8217;ve become a passionate walker over the past couple of years, and in this last year I&#8217;ve been researching nutrition, strength and flexibility.  My research has had me team up with a few amazing people to help me achieve my goals, and together with this team I&#8217;ve created a holistic health program called &#8220;<a href="http://bit.ly/dxJZQh">Total Body Radiance</a>&#8221; that includes walking, nutrition, strength and flexibility training, and also works on your mental, emotional, and spiritual health.  The goal is to train you over a period of 8 months to make easy but highly efficient shifts in your everyday lifestyle that will bring you permanent changes.  At the end of the 8 months everything will be in place so you&#8217;ll never have to count calories, pay gym fees, or worry about your health.  You will be doing everything you can to <strong>automatically</strong> live the healthiest lifestyle you&#8217;re capable of living.</p>

<p>Let me apologize for the length of this lesson and the amount of information.  This is the hardest week of the whole program, and the only week it will be this complicated, but we&#8217;re trying to get everyone on the same page and set up in an organized fashion.  Please just bear with us this week, and I promise the rest will be MUCH easier!</p>
<p>This week is sort of a “set up” week.  I&#8217;m going to suggest that you spend 15 minutes a day tackling the to-do list below.  If you&#8217;re easily overwhelmed, totally disorganized, and absolutely hate detail, do the following:</p>
<p><strong>Checklist and Skim Method:</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>Print off the Lesson 1 PDF</li>
<li>Go right to the end of the lesson, read the checklist for the week&#8217;s activities.  Skim the e-book for details on  anything there you don&#8217;t fully understand.</li>
<li>Print off and complete the Transformation Journal every day</li>
</ol>
<p><strong>&#8220;Go For it All&#8221; Method:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Day 1 (Today!)</strong></p>
<p><strong> </strong></p>
<ol>
<li>Watch the video</li>
<li>Grab your calendar and schedule 15 minutes a day, every day for the next week.</li>
<li>Now schedule an hour a week to set up each of the coming weeks &#8211; time to print, file, schedule, etc.</li>
<li>Decide on a day at least 8 days from now when you will &#8220;kick off&#8221; this program.  So, if you received your lesson today and today&#8217;s Tuesday, and you like to start new things on Saturday, schedule your next &#8220;set up hour&#8221; between Tuesday and Saturday of next week. That way, on Saturday you&#8217;re ready to go, with everything in place.  Make your set up time the same time every week.  You probably won&#8217;t need an hour to get it done, but just in case&#8230;</li>

<p><strong>Day 3</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>Download the following mp3 recording and get it on your listening device.  Try and listen to it as you go about your business today.</li>

<p><strong>Day 4</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>Read through Lesson 1 (even if you listened to it all yesterday.  This will solidify the information in your mind/memory and help you take stock of what you might have missed).</li>
<li>Schedule your &#8220;Hunger Discovery Days (after your first &#8220;Start Date&#8221;, so if today is Tuesday and you want to really get this started on Saturday, schedule your days somewhere between this Saturday and next Saturday)</li>
<li>Schedule the day you&#8217;re going to go shopping for your pedometer if you want to buy it in person (recommended, as you never know how long shipping will take).</li>
</ol>
<p><strong>Day 5</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>Fill out your Radiance Questionnaire.  This is a fairly long and detailed questionnaire, but no one will see it but you.  Take time to do it well, but don&#8217;t agonize over your answers.  You need to fill this out, seal it in an envelope with “month 1” written on the front, and then just keep it in your binder. I&#8217;ll tell you what to do with it later</li>
<li>Set  up what you need (pencil, chart, measuring tape) to take your measurements tomorrow morning first thing, after you use the toilet, before breakfast, no clothes on.  Hang the chart where you&#8217;ll see it.</li>
</ol>
<p><strong>Day 6</strong></p>
<ol>
<li> Work on your Life Transformation Group – Write up a list of who you&#8217;d like to invite for coffee, or connect with on a deeper level.  Make sure you have their contact information, and set up some apppointments &#8211; either all of them together, or just one on one &#8211; for sometime next week.  If you&#8217;re not great with people, here are two excellent resources to help you move forward in that area:<br />

<p>Now, let me give you a bit of an overview of the program itself so you&#8217;ll know what to expect.  There are a number of people involved here.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.PraiseWalker.com"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-73" title="FunkyFeetSmall" src="http://totalbodyradiance.com/members/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/FunkyFeetSmall1.png" alt="" width="100" height="100" /></a>The main driving force comes from my own program “<a href="http://praisewalker.com/">PraiseWalking</a>” which is a method of walking and meditation.  I&#8217;ll show you how to use walking as a form of excellent fitness, as well as meditation.  When you finish your daily walks you&#8217;ll feel focused, energized, and calm.  I&#8217;ll also train you to walk in such a way that your body automatically burns fat instead of sugar to fuel your day so you&#8217;ll have MUCH more energy.</p>
<p><a href="http://plandee.org/"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-74" title="Plan-D logoSmall" src="http://totalbodyradiance.com/members/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/Plan-D-logoSmall1.jpg" alt="" width="100" height="100" /></a>To this we have the privilege of adding the principles and recipes from “<a href="http://plandee.org/">Plan-D: The Amazing Anti-Diet</a>” specifically adapted to this program.  Dee McCaffrey will train us to eat well using simple habits that will transform the way we think about food, jump start our metabolism, and boost our energy level.  Her recipes and habits are designed with busy moms and picky kids in mind.</p>
<p>We also have a couple of guest appearances, people who have different areas of expertise that will enhance what you&#8217;ll be learning here. You&#8217;ll meet these people later.</p>
<p>Each week will give you one to three very small assignments. I can already tell you that you will be frustrated by the fact that the habits we are asking you to master are so small. You&#8217;re used to programs promising huge results in very little time, but if you remember what happens after those programs are over, you&#8217;ll also remember that it took too much will-power to keep them going, or they were too unhealthy to practice long-term, so you quit, stopped, gave up, and then gained the weight back.</p>
<p>This program is different. You receive tiny assignments that hopefully have you reacting with “That&#8217;s <strong>IT</strong>?!&#8221; but I promise that if you are faithful to turn each task into a habit, you&#8217;ll never diet again, and your fitness routine will be as natural as breathing. Each assignment comes with clear teaching so you really understand the “why” of it, and it will come with lots of ideas for creatively making that task a part of your every day life.</p>
<p>At the end of 8 months, you won&#8217;t need us anymore. You&#8217;ll be on your own, strong, fit, and with all the tools and motivation you&#8217;ll need to keep up the hard work without strenuous self-discipline or deprivation</p>

<p>Over the past several months I&#8217;ve been seriously re-assessing my understanding of my Christian walk.  A number of things have happened to jar my complacency, and I have developed an ever growing hunger to really understand what it means when Jesus says &#8220;I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.&#8221; (<a href="http://bit.ly/baeYRR">John 10:10b</a>)</p>
<p>I started to share about this journey <a href="http://praisewalker.com/2010/02/19/living-free-doing-life-differently/">a couple of weeks ago </a>and since then I&#8217;ve finished listening to Wayne Jacobsen&#8217;s &#8220;<a href="http://bit.ly/cMWoyo">Transition</a>&#8221; series, and am just finishing up his book &#8220;<a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0964729253?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=momdefrazzler-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=0964729253">He Loves Me! Learning to Live in the Father&#8217;s Affection</a><img style="border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=momdefrazzler-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=0964729253" border="0" alt="" width="1" height="1" />&#8221; and I am being deeply challenged, moved, and hugely encouraged.</p>

<p>So much of my faith has been based on religion &#8211; not hard to understand when yoou realize I  grew up as a traditional Baptist!</p>
<p>But religion keeps us as far from the heart of God as rebellion.  In fact, I&#8217;ll bet God prefers rebellion, because it&#8217;s at least usually honest, where religion is not.</p>
<p>Anyway, I&#8217;m very grateful for the fact that my training is going to soon be forcing me into longer and longer walks.  It will give me much more time to listen, study, and focus on walking this new path spiritually, while I train for the physical part of my marathon.</p>

<p>I like to &#8220;collect&#8221; prayers to use in different situations.  Of course, you don&#8217;t need special words or phrases to get God&#8217;s attention, but sometimes I need them to get MY attention focused in the right place.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve been reading a series of books lately by a woman named <a href="http://bit.ly/bAOC4S">Liberty Savard</a> and I have been really blessed by some of her teaching on prayer.  I took some of her suggestions and created a breath-prayer exercise for the beginning of my walking.  I thought I&#8217;d post it here in case you&#8217;d like to use it, too:</p>
<ol>
<li>As you inhale slowly, pray “<strong>I bind myself to God&#8217;s truth, authenticity and integrity</strong>“ &#8211; and really visualize yourself “inhaling Christ” as it were.  Pause for a brief second or two and then</li>
<li>Exhale and pray “<strong>I loose myself from all falsehood, lies, and deception</strong>” and imagine those things leaving your body.  Pause.</li>
<li>Inhale and pray “<strong>I bind my will, passions, and purposes,  to the will, passions and purposes of God</strong>” visualizing yourself inhaling these properties. Pause.</li>
<li>Exhale and pray “<strong>I loose myself from false pretensions, selfishness, greed, and fear</strong>” and exhale those things from your life.  Pause.</li>
<li>Inhale and pray “<strong>I bind my mind to the mind of Christ, to hear the thoughts, intents, and purposes of His heart</strong> ”.  Pause.</li>
<li>Exhale and and pray, “<strong>I loose myself from wrong thinking, behaviour, and attitudes</strong>”.  Pause.</li>
<li>Inhale and pray “<strong>I bind my feet to God&#8217;s path for me, and my hands to the special work He&#8217;s ordained for me to accomplish in His Kingdom</strong>”.  Pause.</li>
<li>Exhale and pray “<strong>I loose myself from the strongholds of unmet needs, unresolved issues, and unhealed hurts</strong>”.  Pause.</li>
</ol>
<p>I have a feeling that a prayer like that throughout your day could vastly change the way you see things!</p>

Canada Day is here, and I&#8217;m celebrating by going &#8220;Walkabout&#8221;.  Here are the details:</p>

Your Blue Mountains journey begins in Jenolan Caves. Jenolan Caves is home to the oldest discovered open caves in the world, approximately discovered in 1835-49, featuring numerous Silurian marine fossils and calcite formations. From Jenolan Caves walk to Gulgong a gold rush town which was founded in the 1870s and then on to Mudgee in the Cudgegong River valley, which is now a wine producing region. From Mudgee continue on to Hill End which was established in the 1850s as a gold rush town. Hill End is also classified as a historical site by the National Parks and Wildlife Service.</p>
